Project
The visual image/identity for 2026 Pan-Pacific International Exchange Triennial.
The theme of this triennial, “Moana: From the Sea We Come, To the Islands We Return,” emphasizes the intertwined histories and diverse cultures within the Pan-Pacific region. It pays particular attention to the cultural heritage, social issues, and ecological challenges of Pacific Island nations, the Asia-Pacific region, and countries along the Pacific Rim. The exhibition will invite curators and artists from across the Pan-Pacific to engage with contemporary global issues—such as globalization, environmental concerns, Indigenous cultures, and migration—through their creative practices. Centered on cross-cultural dialogue, the project aims to foster international exchange and collaboration in the art world.
Purple and green were chosen as the main colors for the visual identity to create an earthy and Pan-Pacific style look that also respects the traditions of different cultures. The aim was to keep the number of colors to two primary colors (purple and green) and one secondary color (white) to create contrast, minimalism, and clarity in the design.
