Project
Visual identity for 2024 Zhuangwei Living Arts Festival. Visual image included various designs: logo, festival colors, fonts, festival brochure, mask design, web design, etc. This year’s main colors were the different shades of green and yellow, representing the landscape of Zhuangwei (land, sea and sky). The colors work as a harmonious whole, like land, sea and sky. Color variations represent the cultural and human diversity of Zhuangwei and Yilan region while bringing everyone together during the festival. The colors are taken from the features of the local area and landscape: mountains, paddy fields, and sand dunes. Abstract pattern represents sand dunes that continuously change their shapes.
Taking the poem “I Wish to Be Your Scenery” written by the renowned poet Luo Yeh, who was from Yilan,
we rewrite it as the main theme for the 2024 Zhuangwei Living Arts Festival.
When I miss you, I retrieve satellite views
From ten thousand feet above, I see you lying on the island edge
Lushly layered green curl on mountains and soothing air spreads over plains
Sand dune and shore collaborate to outline seductive contours
On the azure skirt hem, waves of lace borders are dancing
Leaning against the Snow Mountain, it’s unclear if you’re asleep or awake
I have to zoom in, spiraling down with an enlarged scale
Slowly approaching watery fields reminiscent of your bright-eyed smile
Vaguely discerning the singing waves and murmuring sand
Cantaloupes are your sweet verses casually written on the sandbank
Cyclones are letters delivered from the seasons, Kuroshio is a necklace
Earthquakes are the eternal mother’s gentle shaking during your dreams
White clouds are the wanderer—your love returning from afar
Standing on the sandy shore, gazing at the sea from time to time
The emerging whales are the reflections of his exile
Breathlessly, I wait, wishing you not to notice
Just like a peanut field can remain unaware of the Tropic of Cancer
Perhaps in a lonely afternoon or between nightfall and dawn
Sandy fields, tribes, fish ponds, Turtle Island, and alluvial fans
I drift silently to become the scenery along your journey
